Global warming is the steady and continuous rise in the overall level of earth’s temperature. It has become a significant threat to the  environment. It is caused by a natural process called greenhouse effect but it is intensified to its current level with some human activities. Global warming possesses threat of extreme heat, drought, flood, rising sea levels and extinction of some animal and plant species.

Global Warming is caused by a naturally appearing process called the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect begins with the sun and the energy it radiates to the earth. The earth and the atmosphere absorbs some of these energy while the rest is radiated back into space. Naturally occurring gases trap some of these energy and reflect it back, warming the earth. These naturally occurring gases are the so-called Greenhouse gases.

The  adverse effects of global warming and greenhouse effect  are being augmented due to some human activities such as deforestation and burning of fossil fuels, resulting in extreme warming. Ever since the industrial revolution began, factories, power plants and eventually cars burned fossil fuels such as oil and coal, releasing huge amount of carbon dioxide and other gases in the atmosphere.

Evidence for global warming includes a recent string of very warm years. It is reported  that 1998 was the warmest year in measured history with 2005 coming in second. The shrinking of the Arctic sea ice is another example. NASA’s studies show that the Arctic sea ice has declined about 10% in the last 30 years.

The effects of global warming on plants and animals are expected to be widespread and profound. Many animals are migrating to adapt to the changing environment while  species unable to do so  go  extinct. It is reported that to one-third of Earth's animals and one-half of plants may go extinct by  2080. Other effects of global warming can be rising sea levels, floods, severe droughts and changes of climate.

In order to stop the adverse effects of the global warming, the emissions of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere must be reduced.. Reducing the level of coal and oil burning, use of transportation means, use of electrical devices, etc may  reduce the global warming to a great level. Switching to alternative sources of electricity can also help. By spreading awareness among people about the harmful impact of Global Warming in future, we can take our initiative towards the betterment of this world.

Educational Statistics

Statistics is a developed discipline supported by scientific method for collection, analysis and interpretation of both qualitative and quantitative data. The word ' Statistics ' has come to be used in two senses viz,  as numerical data; and  as statistical methods In the first sense, statistics is a numerical description of quantitative aspect of things. Numerical facts like height, weight, income, expenditure, temperature, rainfall, price of goods, marks on different tests, etc. are referred to as statistical data.  But these datas are to be turbulated, classified, analysed and interpreted properly and for all these, we use statistical methods. Thus, in the second sense, statistics refers to the statistical principles and methods used in the collection, analysis and interpretation of data.  Furthermore, summarized figures of numerical facts such as percentages, averages, means, medians, modes and standard deviations are also called statistics. Types of Motivation

Motivation is defined as the process that initiates, guides, and maintains goal-oriented behaviors. It may be broadly classified into two types — Intrinsic and Extrinsic motivation. Intrinsic Motivation: In intrinsic motivation, the source of motivation lies within  the task or activity itself. The individual gets motivated to do one or the other things on account of the satisfaction received by him in doing so in order to satisfy his natural instincts, urges and impulses. Extrinsic Motivation: In Extrinsic motivation, however , the source of pleasure does not lie within the task. Here one does not learn or do something for its own sake but does it as a means of getting some external reward i.e. working for a grass or honour instead of seeking joy in the activity itself.
